PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR EMAILS! IF IT IS POURING RAIN or THERE IS A THUNDERSTORM, K2 is most likely canceled. YOUR HEAD COACH WILL CONTACT YOU VIA EMAIL. We have no raindates, so we really try to play! Thanks!
K2 Lacrosse is now a part of HYA. We find having lacrosse information in one location is helpful to players, parents, and coaches. U9-U15 teams are all part of HAMPTON LACROSSE. These are travel/competitive teams. Many of the K2 coaches also coach Hampton Lacrosse teams. All programs work closely together to provide the best lacrosse experience for all players. Please remember that all programs are run and coached by volunteers. Most of the volunteers also have full time jobs. We do this for the love of the game! Welcome to the wonderful world of Lacrosse!

Introduction to Lacrosse Program
Grades K-2
Hampton lacrosse is partnering with HYA to offer a 6 week introduction to lacrosse program during May and June. The program is offered to Hampton, N.Hampton, Hampton Falls, Sacred Heart Students, and Seabrook residents grades Kindergarten - 2nd. Pre School students (even if they are 5) will have to wait another year!
This is a non competitive/non contact grassroots program and will be held locally on Saturday afternoons starting at 3pm during May and the beginning of June. The season will end with a family friendly lacrosse festival. A fee of $35 will be charged. Players will receive a program t-shirt. Players will provide their own lacrosse equipment including a mouth guard, eye goggles (girls), helmet & gloves (boys), and a girls or boys regulation lacrosse stick (youth is fine/ no ?fiddle sticks?).
There will be a boys practice time and a girls practice time. The practices will run back to back. Your child will be assigned a team within the program with a head coach. We will work together and as teams. Small sided instructional scrimmages may be introduced as the season progresses. This is an in house program that does not include games against other towns.
The K2 program is designed for new and younger players who have a desire to try the game of lacrosse in a instructive and fun practice based environment. Each player will be encouraged to make mistakes and try new things. The coaches work hard to create age appropriate games to learn basic lacrosse skills!
The goal of the K-2 program is to promote the sport of lacrosse and provide a fun, positive, and enriching experience for the players, parents, and coaches.
Equipment Requirents for K-2 Program:
· Girls: Girls lacrosse stick (no fiddle sticks), mouthguard, and eye googles, water bottles.
· Boys: Boys lacrosse stick (no fiddle sticks), mouthguard, gloves, and helmet with face protection (no bike/skate helmets), water bottles. Hockey helmets are a good option for this crew. They do make lacrosse helmets, but they can be expensive. Lacrosse gloves are recommended but not required for the K2 Program.
PLAYER CONDUCT & SAFETY: There will be no stick checking at this level. (There will also be no sword fighting, helmet wacking, tackling, etc J) Good sportsmanship will be emphasized. Players will be expected to be attentive and respectful during practice to both teammates and coaches. After proper redirection, if we feel your child is having a difficult time with this we will have your child take a break from the field for safety reasons. Our goal is to create a welcome atmosphere for all players regardless of ability. There is a lot of running involved in lacrosse so please bring plenty of water!
All players will require a designated adult to be present during practice!
The program started as a grassroot conversation/effort in 2010 by parents who were interested in having a program for their younger children. In 2010 the program was refered to as U7. The program was open to players between 5 and 7 years old. We had several pre school players. The program was free to anyone who wanted to play. (We did not have shirts) The majority of players were 1st grade boys. The boys and girls played together. At times, 20 players would show up on a given Saturday. We played at Gov. Weare in Hampton Falls. Erica Nardone took the lead on the program and was assisted by Kevin Vail, Larry Trinceri, Steve Holmes, Nancy Roka, Tony Delano, Brad Fagan (Winnacunnet player), and Megan (Winnacunnet graduate). Several of our first generation players have moved onto play on U9 teams in 2011.
In 2011 a small fee was added and t-shirts were designed for the girls and boys, 65 players signed up for the newly named K2 program. We divided the boys and girls into seperate groups. We moved our fields to the Sacred Heart fields to accomodate our growing program and be near Centre School playground for K2 families to enjoy.
2012 we are now in our 3rd year and have grown to 100 participants. For the first time, we had to close registration and turn players away. We have 4 boys teams and 3 girls teams. The teams are divided by colors. Pink, Purple, Emerald (girls). Green, Maroon, Royal, and Grey. Fortunately we have added many experienced coaches and new to lacrosse coaches to the program. them for U9 lacrosse.
2013 We are so excited to be partnering with HYA this year. It is such a natural fit with the K2 philosophy. We just completed our 2013 registration nights. For the first time in the history of the program, we have more girls than boys playing! Unbelievable! The handful of girls we started with has grown to over 55 strong! Stay tuned for more 2013 news!
We are so excited to see such growth in the program. We could not have done it without the support of the parents, coaches, and Hampton Lacrosse. Thank you to everyone involved in supporting our efforts to introduce lacrosse to young local players!
